"Happy New Year"
from Pastor Dennis
Dear Friends,
On our church calendar we are moving through the beginning weeks of what is known as the “Half Year of Our Lord.” Bright light shines in our lives as a result of the gift of God’s Son, Jesus. That light penetrates even the darkest corners of our lives and reaches out to all the earth.
Our St. Paul’s family of faith is preparing, in many wonderful ways, to celebrate that shining light and to share it with the community and with the world. You must consider the strong music ministry of our congregation, then, come to share with us in two special services. Sunday morning, February 14, we will pool resources of children, young people and adult singers to present the mini-cantata, “With Love.” Only one week later, February 21, in the afternoon, we will lift up “4 Choirs 4 Our Churches,” a festival of music and song, to give glory to God and to receive an offering that will support the “4 Our Churches” Capital Campaign of our Penn Central Conference.
This latter concert will also mark our footsteps into the Lenten season of the church year. That is the time in which we examine, more deeply, the meaning of Jesus’ coming into the world and the pathway he calls us to follow. Christ’s light shines brightly, but he has first passed through the darkest of nights, Good Friday. Through Good Friday we have gained an access to the glorious celebration of Easter Sunday.
This is how our church calendar swings during these weeks and months known as the “Half Year of Our Lord.” We invite you to join us on this deep- running journey as we explore and surrender ourselves to the marvelous love of God, evident in all places and at all times through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Yours In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Dennis
