PRAYER MEMORIAL GARDEN COMMITTEE

Purpose

  1. To plan for the life of the prayer/memorial garden
  2. To recruit help for the upkeep of the gardens
  3. To maintain a memorial book
  4. To work with Trustees, various committees and the Pastor
  5. To manage the landscape of the garden by approving what is planted and suggesting ways people may contribute to the ongoing care and upkeep
  6. To maintain a prayer/memorial garden fund for the creation and perpetual care of the gardens
  7. Any scheduled events held at the gazebo should be made known to the chairperson or committee member
  8. To oversee any decorations at gazebo, gardens or altar; should be approved by chairperson or committee

Chairperson

  1. Serves one-year term beginning in February
  2. Prepares agenda and conducts meetings
  3. Communicates actions of committee to Consistory
  4. Recruits members
  5. Works with other committees and the Pastor
  6. Communicates necessary information for newsletter and announcements

Secretary

  1. Serves one-year term beginning in February
  2. Takes minutes of the meetings
  3. Ensures that minutes are given to the church secretary by the Wednesday before Consistory meeting
  4. Serves in absence of chairperson

Members of Prayer/Memorial Garden Committee

  1. Serve two-year term beginning in January (terms are staggered so that half expire each year)
  2. Should consist of at least one (1) Trustee, one (1) Consistory member, one (1) youth delegate, and other members from the congregation
  3. Suggested total ten
  4. Help with the planning and upkeep of prayer/memorial gardens
  5. Work with committees and Pastor on ways of using gardens
  6. Recruit help for upkeep of gardens
  7. Evaluate committee membership needs as directed by Consistory
